Group Therapy:

Group therapy is an intentionally created safe space meant to provide extensive opportunity to learn more effective communication skills. For one reason or another relational dynamics are difficult for all of us. Whether it be professional working relationships, social relationships, or intimate interpersonal relationships, we could all use the opportunity to more fully understand ourselves, to explore how others perceive us, and to become more aware of what all this means for our current relationships. This is the goal of group therapy - to learn about yourself, to learn to communicate more authentically, and to learn to listen more effectively and thoughtfully to the experiences of the people around you.

A word of encouragement: groups can often feel intimidating to join, and we do not assume it is not so. Getting over the hump and deciding to join a group is definitely the first courageous act of the process. That said, please know that we do what we can to alleviate unnecessary anxiety through confidentiality agreements and setting up group guided ground rules.  However, we also understand that anxiety is a natural part of the process and will inevitably be something that requires exploration within the group.
